The Wilds Await
Santaur is a fortified town in the Earldom of Westmarch in the world of Midgard. It is the feudal seat of the Westingford family, who hold their lands from King Godric of Pelias. Santaur once sat at the very edge of the known world; close to the Mysts that surround the entire world of Midgard. That changed a year ago when the Mysts parted and revealed a whole new land that has become known as the new West Marches.
These new lands are entirely unexplored and lie just beyond the Pelias Wall; a few miles to the west of Santaur. This land appears wild and untamed and few dare seek their fortunes in these desolate wastes. Yet Lord Westingford has been charged by the King to quell any evil that might threaten Midgard. Thus has the Lord of Santaur enacted a proclamation whereby any commoner may join the Lord Westingford's Men and seek their fortune in these new West Marches, such they may bear arms within these new lands and that whilst doing so, they act in the King's stead.
They shall also be freed of all feudal obligations and shall free their families from them also. This has caused a steady stream of folk of all nations and social groups, to arrive at Santaur before leaving to explore the wilds. Few return if truth be told, and Lord Westingford seems to regard the men bearing his name with contempt at best, for they are nothing to him but a necessary evil.
